a-Scope

The course addresses the use of English in specific contexts to fulfil a given purpose. Primarily it covers three areas where the use of relevant, specialized English jargon is integral:

• Technical English
• Business English
• Academic English

b-Targeted learners

Individuals working in specific fields (engineers, technicians, administrators, accountants) with international partners, whose work and interaction are mainly in English, and which cannot be implemented without the knowledge of the specific English usage. It also targets academics wishing to improve their ability in reading English sources and write their research papers and theses in English

c-Intended learning outcomes (ILOs)

By the end of this course, learners will be expected to demonstrate their ability:

• To be conscious of and familiar with the specific jargon commonly in use in their respective fields
• To make correct usage of vocabulary relevant to their respective fields

To interact meaningfully and do work with other specialists working in the same fields
